Community service is at the heart of our Redeemer family.

Below are the groups we currently provide and support!

If you would like to talk to us about supporting your organization, please reach out to the church office at 253-564-5053.

  • The Care Team is responsible for reaching out to our Redeemer Family! Each November a Remembrance Gathering is hosted and those whose loved ones have gone before them are encouraged to light a candle in remembrance. Additionally, meals are brought to those following hospitalization or a recent move, transportation assistance is coordinated for appointments, hospital and home visits (often with a delivery of a holiday plant or snack to share) and the sending of greeting cards help to keep in touch with members near and far, and babies are held to let new mothers nap.

  • Hope for the Future is a food pack program started by our members that specifically supports the two local schools; Wainwright Intermediate and Whittier Elementary. Many of these students and families face food insecurity, and so our community comes together to help provide backpacks of food for weekends and long breaks.

To get involved, or provide donations, please reach out to the church office at 253-564-5053 or click here to donate funds!

  • One of our most popular groups, this group of mostly women, come together to tie fleece blankets for the community and help provide blankets to new moms in the area!

Please reach out the church office for information about when they meet.

  • A relatively new addition to the Redeemer, the quilting group comes together during the week to create quilts to be sent all over the world for Lutheran World Relief!

  • Redeemer volunteers serve at the NOURISH NW Tacoma Food Bank, located at Mason United Methodist Church in the Proctor district, on a rotating basis every six weeks. On food distribution days, volunteers may greet and check in clients, accompany clients through the food bank as they shop, restock shelves, help clients load groceries, and return shopping carts to the food bank.

If you or someone you know is experiencing food insecurity, please click here for more information from NOURISH.

  • Each spring, Redeemer provides a team to fundraise for the Annual Hunger Walk put on by EFN. Our members love to come together to support such an important need in our community! For more information about EFN or if you are experiencing food insecurity, click here.
